RECOMBITEK Equine WNV Vaccine stimulates an excellent anamnestic response (or "Booster") in horses previously vaccinated with 2 doses of the West Nile - INNOVATOR vaccine.

A head-to-head trial study of 27 horses ranging in age and breed while maintained on pasture, that had previously received 2 doses of West Nile - INNOVATOR as per their label. These horses were split into 2 groups, one group which was given RECOMBITEK as a booster vaccination and the other groups which was given West Nile - INNOVATOR as a booster vaccination. RECOMBITEK Equine WNV Vaccine stimulated an immune "Boost" response signifcantly higher than that produced by a booster vaccination of West Nile - INNOVATOR.

Description:

Recombitek Equine West Nile Virus vaccine contains lyophilized recombinant canarypox vectored WNV vaccine, plus a sterile liquid diluent. A canarypox vector has been modified using recombinant technology to express the desired antigens capable of stimulating a protective response to WNV. After inoculation, the vector does not multiply in the horse, but does express the protective proteins, including an immuna status against WNV.

Safety and immunogenicity of this vaccine have been demonstrated by vaccination and natural challenge (bites of Aedes albopictus mosquitoes known to be infected with WNV) of susceptible horses.

Indications:

Recombitek Equine WNV vaccine is recommended for the vaccination of healthy horses as an aid in the prevention of viremia due to West Nile Virus infection.
