Feeding Information: Esbilac® 2nd Step™ has been formulated to meet the nutritional needs of young puppies being weaned from mother, or bottle-fed puppies progressing to solid foods. For best results, the product should be mixed with ready to feed liquid Esbilac or reconstituted powder Esbilac to give the consistency necessary to get good food consumption. Esbilac 2nd Step should be lapped out of a bowl. If Esbilac is not available water may be used. It is recommended that Esbilac 2nd Step be fed until puppies are seven or eight weeks old when they can be fed commercial puppy or dog food as desired.Mixing Directions: Determine the daily amount of Esbilac 2nd Step powder to be fed to the puppy using the weight chart below. Reconstitute powder by using three parts (a part is any measuring device, i.e. teaspoon, tablespoon or cup) water to one part powder for the first few days. This will make a thin gruel. The amount of reconstituted powder should be divided into three or more feedings daily. Offer only small amounts and remove the uneaten portion within two hours. As puppies grow, decrease the amount of water mixed with the powder until weaning food is an oatmeal consistency.
