| Because it offers limited closure, it's safer than a traditional choke collar. Wonderful for use in training classes, on walks or around the home. The Premier Collar is "sized" differently than other collars. The measurement is taken from around the top of the neck behind the dog's ears. This looser fit provides firm control yet reduces matting and bald spots, and allows for seasonal coat changes. The Premier Collar was the first product ever made by Premier! Inspired to find a collar that her rescued greyhound Shadow couldn't slip out of, Sharon started by sewing collars in a spare bedroom in 1989. She distributed them out of the back of her station wagon for greyhound rescue groups and small pet stores. And Premier Pet Products was born ... A kinder version of the traditional obedience collar. When properly adjusted, the limited closure prevents choking and overcorrection.
Unlike other collars, the measurement taken for the Premier Collar is at the top if the neck directly behind the ears. This corresponds with the size of the collar in the closed position, so it is not necessary to add inches. For example if your adult dog measures 14" directly behind the ears, choose a medium collar.
Sizing recommendations:
5"-8" Petite (3/8" thick), 8"-12" Small (3/8" or 3/4" thick), 10"-16" Medium (3/4" or 1" thick), 14"-20" Large (3/4" or 1" thick), 18"-28" Extra Large (1" thick only).
